Understanding Visitor Visa (600)

The subclass 600 lets you visit Australia for a genuine temporary stay for tourism, family visits, or permitted business visitor activity. It offers multiple streams and flexible stay periods that usually range up to 3, 6, or 12 months, with single or multiple entry depending on your circumstances and the Department’s decision.

Streams

Tourist stream:

Holidays, visiting friends or family, short study up to 3 months.

Sponsored Family stream:

Your Australian sponsor supports your visit. In some cases a security bond may be requested.

Business Visitor stream:

Meetings, conferences, trade fairs, site visits and negotiations. No paid work and no service delivery to Australian clients.

Key Considerations For Visitor Visa 600

Genuine Temporary Stay

Your ties to home, employment or study, funds and itinerary must show that you will depart on time.

Evidence

Travel plan, bank statements or sponsor support, invitations or event details, accommodation, and return or onward travel intentions.

Conditions

No work (condition 8101). Study usually limited to 3 months (condition 8201). Some grants carry 8503 No Further Stay which prevents onshore applications.

Biometrics and Health

You may be asked for biometrics, health exams or police checks based on your passport and travel history.

Visitor Visa Eligibility

You may be eligible if you:

Intend a genuine temporary stay for tourism, family visits, or permitted business visitor activity.

Can show funds for travel, accommodation, and daily costs, or evidence of suitable support.

Provide a travel plan that makes sense for the time requested.

Meet health and character requirements and comply with past visa conditions.

Typical evidence we prepare: Itinerary and purpose of travel, bank statements or sponsor support, employment or study ties, family commitments at home, invitation or event details, accommodation bookings, and return travel plans. We also recommend suitable health insurance for the visit period.

Visitor Visa FAQs

How long can I stay on a visitor visa?

Common grant periods are up to 3, 6, or 12 months. The decision depends on your purpose, profile, and the stream used.

Can I work on a visitor visa?

No. Limited business visitor activity is allowed, such as meetings or conferences. Paid work is not permitted.

Do I need a return ticket?

A booked or return ticket shows intent but it is not necessary.

What if I have a prior refusal?

We rebuild the case with stronger evidence, address refusal reasons, and propose the right stream for your situation.

Can I include my family?

Each person applies separately. We coordinate consistent applications and shared itinerary and funding evidence.

Do I need health insurance?

It is strongly recommended. We will outline suitable cover for the visit period.

Can I extend my stay?

Options are limited and depend on your current conditions and circumstances. We advise on lawful next steps if you need more time.

Do you guarantee outcomes?

No. Decisions are made by the Department of Home Affairs. Our role is to prepare an accurate, consistent, and compelling file to support your case.
