Understanding Types of Student Visas

Student visa - subclass 500

For full-time study in Australia across higher education, VET, schools and ELICOS. Requires enrolment evidence, funds, English and OSHC.

Student Guardian - subclass 590

For eligible parents or guardians to accompany and support a student under 18 (or older in limited cases).

Training visa - subclass 407

For structured workplace-based training to enhance skills. Not a student visa, but often considered alongside study or career goals.

Student Visa Eligibility

You may be eligible if you:
Hold a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for a registered full-time course
Meet English language requirements (where applicable)
Show financial capacity for tuition, living costs and travel
Hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the visa period
Satisfy health and character checks and comply with previous visa conditions
Evidence we help prepare: CoEs, OSHC, bank statements or sponsor support, English results, academic history, CV, travel history and a clear personal statement that aligns study with your background and goals.
